How NFL passer rating works

The NFL formula scores completion rate, yards per attempt, touchdown rate, and interception rate. Each part is limited between 0 and 2.375, then the four parts are averaged and scaled by 100.

Usage notes

  • A = ((completions / attempts) - 0.3) x 5
  • B = ((yards / attempts) - 3) x 0.25, C = (TD / attempts) x 20
  • D = 2.375 - ((INT / attempts) x 25), rating = ((A+B+C+D)/6) x 100
